Ultrasonic Cleaner

Ultrasonic cleaner is a special device that uses ultrasound with addition of a cleaning solvent (such as water) to clean items such as jewelry and tools. This device is often used before sterilization with an autoclave or for cleaning items that cannot be autoclaved. An ultrasonic cleaner needs a cleaning solvent to clean items. There are many different solvents that can be used, but many ultrasonic cleaners work on plain tap water. Depending on the tools that are cleaned, cleaning with an ultrasonic cleaner takes between three and twenty minutes. It is possible to use an ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning many different objects, such as tools, various devices, jewelry, and more. Some piercers use these cleaners in their studios for cleaning their tools before sterilizing them in an autoclave. Ultrasonic cleaners are also good for cleaning body jewelry pieces.

An ultrasonic cleaner is a good device to have for cleaning those items that cannot be autoclaved. For example, there are certain tools and jewelry made of materials that cannot be autoclaved. Some of these tools and jewelry can be cleaned using an ultrasonic cleaner. However, it is important to note that while an ultrasonic cleaner can remove many of the dirt and microorganisms; it is not a full form of sterilization. This is why it’s best to treat tools and jewelry with an ultrasonic cleaner and after that with an autoclave (if the material allows being autoclaved). By combining these two devices you get the optimal cleaning and sterilization effect for instruments and jewelry.
