Madonna is a lip piercing done on the upper lip. This is one of the most popular lip piercings in the world. Madonna piercing is very similar to the even more common Monroe piercing and can be seen as a variation of a Monroe. Both piercings are very similar in type and the only difference is the placement. While both of these piercings are performed on the upper lip, they are done on the opposing sides of the lip. Madonna piercings are always done off-center, on the right-hand side of the lip. Just like Monroe piercing got its name from Marilyn Monroe’s beauty mark, Madonna piercing got its name for Madonna’s beauty mark that’s located on the right side of her face. It is possible to have both Madonna and Monroe piercings done. This combination is known as Angel bites, which is one of the co-called “bites” piercings.
